Ordering of Batch Renaming Photos
Posted by Mark Prebonich on May 26, 2010 at 2:50 amI have at times renamed a set of photos by ordering them the way I want, selecting all of them, and renaming them. They then have a (number) after the file names. In windows everything is ordered correctly. However, the photos do not follow the correct order in Vegas. They follow this order in Vegas: (1) then (10)-(19), (2) then (20)-(29) and so on. How can I get the photos to all list in the correct order in the Vegas explorer window? Thanks

Of course this tool would be nice. A little more help would be appreciated. Would you mind letting me know what this tool might be?

May 26, 2010 at 6:43 amHI Mark,
Everytime I select my photos, I click on the last photo then press and hold the shift button and drag them to the time line. It always works for me. If that doesn’t work try naming your photos with a letter and numbers example: A001, A002,and so on. I work with thousands of photos and I just drag them as stated to the timeline. I always keep the original embedded file number, when the photo was taken, what aperture, shutter speed and what camera you used for reference.
Good Luck and Happy Shooting

May 26, 2010 at 5:41 pmjust add 000 to the front of your file names and everything will work great. If you need a program for renaming go to CNET and get ReNamer
https://download.cnet.com/ReNamer/3000-2248_4-10590705.html?tag=mncol
it gives you all of the options…. Ken -

May 26, 2010 at 6:52 pmThe key is to zero pad your filenames. I use two tools depending on the job.
1) Adobe Bridge – comes with Photoshop and Suites. Lots of options to build filenames and append or prepend zero padded sequential numbers
2) Bulk Rename Utility from https://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk – Tons of options to tweak filenames. Can trim specified characters, prepend, append, generate random sequences, etc.

May 26, 2010 at 7:15 pmI have used the Bulk Renaming Utility mentioned above with great success. The screen is a little overwhelming at first glance but very effective. Bulk Rename Utility from:
