Thanks Douglas for the tip. I have had this same question. After I read the tip you suggested, I went right into Vegas and played around with the sound a bit. The master bus fits the bill great in helping to work with 5.1 sound. In the short time I have been coming this forum, I have learned quite alot.

Thank you John, for the response. Could you please make a recommendation regarding rendering settings via Vegas that I may be able to render the native video properly initially. I haven’t adjusted bit rate, two-pass, ect. Should I adjust these? If so, what would be the recommended settings. Should I adjust anything else in order to get the best quality out of these clips?

Hi Mark,Thank you for writing back.
Development is a aware of the issue and they hope to correct it quickly. I do not have an estimated date as to when this will be fixed. Most likely this will be fixed in an update to the current version. Since you are using the trial version, it will most likely run out before the next update is released. I can suggest that you download the trial on a different machine when the next update is released so you can test this.
You can stay notified of any updates by going to options, preferences, general, and checking the box that says “Use Net notify to say informed of Sony product updates.”If you still have a follow-up question on this particular incident, please feel free to update it. If you have a completely different question, please create a new incident.
Sincerely,

I rendered out to 1440×1080-60i as you suggested. There is no problem in rendering to that format. As you mention “There appears to be a related issue when rendering directly to the same format as the source footage.” This is exactly what I have been trying to communicate. You have now made two separate recommendations for me to render my 1920×1080-60i clips to less than desirable formats. The question remains what to do in order render to the same format? I am glad that Sony has taken the step to acknowledge that there is a problem. When may I expect a solution to the problem? Thank you for you continued assistance.-Mark

Hi Mark,Thank you for writing back.
I spoke with development today on this and here is what they recommended. If you are rendering to the exact same format and template as the source footage, they suggested testing a render of Sony AVC with a template of 1440×1080-60i. There appears to be a related issue when rendering directly to the same format as the source footage. Please try the 1440×1080-60i render and see if it turns out any different.

————————-As you can see it is a known issue. It is suprising how long it took for them to acknowledge the problem. I had been in contact with Tech Support for approximately two weeks before the latest response.
I also have found that there is a time/length discrepancy between the native file and the rendered file. Also the bitrate will change considerably in the rendered file. This data I have viewed simply thru Windows in highlighting the files(I have Windows 7).
I have found, as have others, that passing the clip thru tsMuxeR fixes the issue and syncs the audio/video properly. This seems to fix the time/length discrepancy and the bitrate issue. I have not had the chance to closely scrutinize the video, however, to make sure that there are no artifacts.

What do you mean by lag? Do you mean the video and audio fall out of sync? Do the native files play smoothly?
