That is the most impressive audio repair program that I have ever seen… WOW!

    I am aware of that.

But you have to look at this in this manner. If this is your bread and butter, what’s more important to you, work arounds or time saving features that may make you more money.

I understand the economy and how its affected everyone but times are tough and you need to find something that makes you look better to your clients. Its a risk but that’s business.

[Dan Mingo] “We are stuck on trying to make a file that would play with captions that we can send a station”.

For that, you’ll have to contact the broadcast station that you are working with. For us, we air primarily at the Outdoor Channel and they accept the original .cap file that the CaptionMaker software uses, but you can output to a wide variety of sources from CaptionMaker.

You need to contact the company you bought the plugin. Its not an issue with FCP, unless you have installed FCS3. There may be some issues with plugins for a while until they all come to speed.

I agree with David fully. If you are using Final Cut Pro as your sole means of income and you are now in a position that you have to upgrade. Upgrading to FCS2 will cost you more for one system than to upgrade to the newest FCS3 for both.

I think it was $499 for upgrading from 5.14, but anything else was $699. Now, the FCS3 has an upgrade price of $299 for ANY version of Final Cut. Do the math…

Eventually we all have to be current with software. Now is your time.

August 13, 2009 at 3:25 pm in reply to: FCP 7 and Closed Caption Support

[Dan Mingo] “I guess we need to know, can I take a .scc caption file from MacCaption and make a mpeg based file that will retain the caption info so that a TV station could use this file to play over the air and meet FCC caption guidelines. If you know of any place that can describe how to do this through FCP or compressor could you please let me know. “

You send your captioning when you “Print to Video” (output to tape or disc). The setting for this option is ONLY in the “Print to Video” or “Edit to Tape” dialog boxes.

Compressor…. I’m not up on that, yet.

    Uh….

You have to have a closed caption file to do this, and you can save it into any format using CPC-700 or higher versions.

Have you reset your permission like you should after EVERY update?

Did you clone your drive before updating?

August 10, 2009 at 4:29 pm in reply to: Okay, so what do you REALLY think?

    [Bouke Vahl] “Closed Captioning support.
I have to dive into that as well, as my subtitler can output .SCC files that ‘should’ be compatible. (I have not tested it yet though, waiting for a compatible card to arrive.)
Acutally, it is not so much in FCP, hardware does the job.
(As expected, CPC holds a patent about generating CC info using a computer, this is a nice way around the patent) “

Word of caution here… Closed captioning only applies to which version of the CPC software you have. If you own the HD Enterprise version, you can caption anything. BUT… if you have any other version, yo0u can only caption your SD timelines to SD.

Personally, I haven’t tried this yet. But I did get this information straight from CPC. I’m hoping they are wrong and are just trying to sell me an upgrade (about $4,000 for HD Enterprise from CPC-700 software – OUCH!).
