Put your Kona 3 card in slot 3 and you fibre channel card in slot 4.
Unplug your system when you do this, this will reset the SMU. When you restart, zap your PRAM at least three times.
AND, make sure that you have all the latest drivers for your system, including the Xserve RAID.

All of these are great ideas….
I agree with the RAID 5 deal… this is your only REAL form of protection. My personal suggestion to make sure that you have backed up what you can on DVD (DVD DL) or Blu-Ray if your fortunate to have one.
We have everything on tape or XDCAM disc in house, so all I really need to keep is any components that relate to that project and any video files that are not on tape or disc (which almost never happens) and then I “Make Offine…” my video media. Then, the components get saved to a DVD or possibly a DVD DL discs. I label these with my project names and place them on a shelf.
DVDs have a much better life span than hard drives. This is my workflow for backing up projects. It works for me!

I feel your frustration… Adjusting these templates can be done but they are a real pain. The only way I see that you can change the time base is to render the file out and use Compressor or Cinema Tools to change your time base.

I will tell you that I see the same issue as everyone else has seen. My renders seem to be very long, too, with Motion 3.
As an aside item, Adobe has After Effects CS3 Beta 2 available for download. Its much faster than AE7.

Easiest thing to do is to create a new sequence in HDV and drop your XDCAM HD sequence into it, then render. After that, you can just “Print to Tape” like normal.
BUT first, let me ask… is the footage shot XDCAM HD SP (25 mbit)? If so, its already HDV. If its XDCAM HD HQ (35 mbit), then you have to do the conversion I just spoke of.
I’ve done this many times without quality loss.

I’m noticing some serious issues with Motion3 myself. Credit rolls that looked awesome in FCP 5.1.4 and Motion, but since upgrading… I’m getting some serious screen jitters. It looks like a field rendering issue.

Yeah, it does… BUT it is so detailed and takes so many side roads, you get lost.
I’m still having difficulty setting it up properly. I’d love to have my Mac Pro and my G5 talking so that I could do large jobs over the weekend.
Has anyone figured it out, yet?

In past versions of FCP, I found that High Quality was the way to go, but since you suggest this I’ll have to look into it.
