I have Vegas 10 installed, but I rarely use it now or version 11 now that I use Vegas 12. Try the trial version before you pay for the upgrade, but I feel you will find it worth while. Some people claim they have trouble with Vegas 12, which just shows that it is dependent on your setup, hence try it out first.

When I moved projects between systems it seemed to work fine with the save project as functionality with the option to copy media files.

I just tried it today from a DVD I made, and it imported a series of mpg media files (video and audio combined). What happens again when you try? I guess if it does not import anything, then does the DVD have copy protection on it?
I guess if it is not copy protected and that still did not work, you could try to play the DVD and screen record the sections you need to save as media to edit.

I have seen that before and the way I took care of it was to make sure the project properties matched the render as template.

Well if I had this problem, I would not be overclocking my CPU, while I was trying to find the problem. You don’t have ECC RAM, so just because it runs is no guarantee the data is not getting corrupted in the process. This might be why it works when you break it down into smaller batches.

Did you do File/Import/DVD Camcorder disk? This will import the media files from an unprotected DVD so you should be able to edit them normally.

I usually set it to what my main delivery format will be. When I put together a slide show/ video presentation for the Boy Scout Troop, I render to 720p as my projector connected to my laptop does not support 1080p. If I am doing something for my big screen TV at home, then I render to a 1080p.
If I am dealing with a few hundred photos, many times I will leave them in the original jpg format I got them in. I use the montage tool in Production Assistant 2 to create the slide show.

January 29, 2013 at 6:51 am in reply to: Are these assumptions correct about using stills?I have been happy taking original resolution photos and having Vegas Pro adjust the size down for Blu-ray. If you are dealing with a large number of images (hundreds), then scaling them down before hand will save some memory and Vegas will respond faster.
Technically speaking a dedicated image editor may do a better job than a video editor in scaling the images down, but I don’t see the difference.

That should force the links within the project to be correct again. I know that does not answer you specific question, but it might be helpful.
