I just went through the tutorial and was able to extract the siren to a new layer called siren. Can you upload a screen shot?

I noticed there was an update on Sony’s site right now, so I will install that and try the tutorial to see if I can figure out what is going on. You only have the two layers defined, right? It is acting like you extracted it to a layer that you do not have activated. Anyway, I will step though the tutorial again and comment at that time.

So if you now turn on the original layer (make it green) by ensuring the speaker icon shows, you should see all the “waveforms” and not just the selected. Now your new layer box should still be red and if not click on it to make it active. Now things you select with the Extract/Frequency or Extract/Harmonics tool should be copied to the new layer. Now when you turn off the original layer do you see just the selected “waveforms”? Which tool are you using to select? The Extract/Noise tool has an extra step, because you first sample and then select.

If you now click on the new layer box it should turn red, indicating it is the active layer to take edits and the selection tools should be enabled again on the left side of the screen.

Just to cover the bases here.
#1 You have the imported layer
#2 You create a new layer and select that layer and it turns red
#3 Using the selection tools should copy the selected “waveform” to the current layer (the one you selected in #2.
#3 You should now be able to toggle the icon to the left of the layer names (looks like a speaker symbol) to select which ones are visible. From the symptoms you describe I would guess that the new layer you created was not selected when doing step #3 above.

February 19, 2013 at 4:18 pm in reply to: Vegas 12 audio skittering, screen buffer (+ bonus crappy Sony Support)In Sony Vegas Options is the Audio Device Type set the same between version 10 and version 12? Also is version 10 64bit or 32bit?

Well we ruled out a Sony Vegas issue, but it could still be a codec or video driver issue, since it occurs during play back. Codecs are registered with the Windows OS, so uninstalling does not always work. Sometimes tools like Codec Tweak can help show you where a problem is, but many people end up reinstalling Windows to get back to a known state. With Nvidia drivers, I usually run the latest version even if it is “beta”.
Some people have mentioned problems with their anti-virus software. If you are unwilling to turn it off, then try configuring it to ignore your video source and destination folders.

FYI…I was able to download your clip and add it to my Vegas Pro 12 build 486 timeline and add BCC 8.0 Snow effect to the clip and render out to an ipad template of 720p30 MainConcept mp4 file. I had already installed lagarith codec on my system.

February 14, 2013 at 4:43 am in reply to: > red eye / light reflection eye / reduction in SV12You could try a secondary color corrector and apply that to an oval mask, if you are using SVP 12. I tried it very quickly and it looked like it would need more work, but possibly less than all that keyframing. I was thinking if you could replace the bright highlight in the eyes with something more subdued it would be less distracting.
