  • In case you need to convert between media markers and timeline, I have always found Vegasaur my goto tool for this and much more. I used to have multiple plugins for things like this and if I were to start over, I would just get Vegasaur. When I was recording soccer game videos for my son’s coach, I created a simple app that would track the score and relative time so I could use Vegasaur to import markers on the timeline at the approximate points where there was a score or significant event. Vegasaur could then be used to create a title track based on the marker name. This allowed me to easily add the current score to the upper right that was useful for the coach to scrub the video to review the key plays.

Check your audio source in OBS. It sounds like you have a microphone input rather than the audio source you intended. If you are trying to capture system sound, you might be catching it at a low volume from a built-in microphone that is picking up the speakers. When you normalize a flat line audio signal, it will boost it, but could be adding a lot of noise and distortion you do not want. If you use bluetooth audio sources, these can sometimes change the OBS settings depending on whether they are connected at the time OBS starts up.

Looks like the Silence Detector was added in version 3 according to the release notes.

    Notable fixes/changes in Version 3.0 (2016-09-20)

Vegasaur 3.0 requires VEGAS Pro 14 or newer. You can install this version side-by-side with the older Vegasaur versions – Vegas Pro 8-13 will continue to use Vegasaur 1.x or 2.x, while the newer versions of Vegas Pro will use the new Vegasaur.
A bunch of technical changes: new .NET Framework, new Vegas Scripting API, updated GUI library etc.
Silence Detector: Finds the silence in the media files.
Still Images Panel: Indispensable tool for animators. Fast way to change “New still image length” setting and more.
Batch Stabilization: Added support for Mercalli V4 Stabilizr plug-in
By default, Vegasaur uses dark color skin, but you can easily change it in Preferences window

There should be a small Fx icon you can click to open up the Track Fx dialog. He you can add any effects that will be applied to everything on that track.

Can you add the volume effect to the track(s) instead? Vegas allows you to apply at the media, track, and event/clip levels. Media probably would not work unless it it all came from the same media file, but applying at the track level is handy for things like this, unless I’m completely misunderstanding what you are trying to do.

  • I’m glad it worked out. Since you have Vegasaur, you might want to checkout the Text Generation Wizard. It can create titles on a new track that have the same names as the regions you imported. I have another post where I describe this for displaying the soccer game score based on markers that were created during the game on my iPhone.

  • I created a couple regions in Vegas and exported them out to a csv file to get the format Vegasaur expects.

Here is the format it expects.
    ———contents of regionsexport.csv ——–
    “00:01:00.060″,”00:01:45.105″,”one”
    “00:03:00.180″,”00:03:26.081″,”two”

    ———————-

So if you can create a csv file in this format then you could import with Vegasaur Markers. In the photo I show the Vegasaur Markers dialog.

    1. Select the Export/Import tab
    2. Choose Regions
    3. Select Import and choose Comma Separated Value
    4. Click Apply and it will bring up a file dialog to choose the csv file you created.

If all works well, then your timeline will have all the regions imported.

Now go to Transcoder and add a new job.
Under the source tab there is a green plus symbol where you can choose regions. You can select all regions by clicking the checkbox at the top of the list that I show in the photo.

    Hope this helps.

  • If you don’t mind buying a plugin, then Vegasaur can do this. Render Assistant from VASST can also do this too.
I use the transcoder in Vegasaur to queue up all the regions. You can select multiple render outputs and control the naming via settings.

If you want to import the times, you may be able to tweak the format and get Vegasaur to import them as as regions for transcoder. VASST also has a Marker Editor and Marker Creator plugin too.

I’m sure if you have the time you might be able to modify the batch render script to work, but these plugins do a much better job with the interface and various options so I can get things done quicker. Especially when you have to change something and go though the process multiple times.

True. I find it useful for so much more and if I started over again, I would just get Vegasaur. It has been the best less than $100 on sale that I spent on Vegas add-ins for my hobby.

One thing I used Vegasaur for that I could not with my other plugins:
I would record soccer games for the coach from a camera mounted 10ft above the ground.
While recording I could use a Workflow app I created on my iPhone to track the score as a csv file that could be imported as markers with Vegasaur on my timeline. The app set the marker names to the current score.
On my timeline, I could use Vegasaur Text Wizard to create titles with the marker names for the duration till the next marker and place those on a new track. With track motion presets, I could easily place the score consistently in the same upper region of the video. Since I was doing this for 2-3 games a week, it was a real timesaver for me.

But if you can get the VASST FASST apps, I can tell you they worked great for me too at the time and are priced to build a collection as you need them.
