    Dumb question, but paranoid:

If I upgrade to SVP12 to potentially fix a bug or two from my SVP10, am I able to go back to SVP10 if I run into bigger hassles than I have now?

    Thanks,

    –Kelly

ps: This is one of the things I like about these forums. You can ask really dumb questions and people dont’ laugh at you (publicly).

I have both Vegas 11 (32-bit) and Vegas 12 (64-bit) installed on my system.

You shouldnt have a problem. I too have Vegas 11 & 12 Installed on the same computer and they both work fine. I would suggest that you verify that your computer is powerful enough to run Vegas 12. Vegas 12 in powerful and uses a lot of resources.
    Good luck

I have Vegas 10 installed, but I rarely use it now or version 11 now that I use Vegas 12. Try the trial version before you pay for the upgrade, but I feel you will find it worth while. Some people claim they have trouble with Vegas 12, which just shows that it is dependent on your setup, hence try it out first.

Kelly , there was something in your opening post that made me want to add this:

1/- Once a VP10 Project has been opened in VP12 and SAVED, you can not then reopen that VP12 Saved project back in VP10.

2/- A previously made VP12 or freshly made VP12 Project will NOT open in VP10.

3/- You WILL need a 64bit OS to have VP12 work at all.

The only downside Kelly, is that projects saved in Vegas 12
cannot be then opened in Vegas 10…Otherwise from that, you are
    good to go.
For me, i still do most of my edits in Vegas 10, primarily because
i have a huge mass of 32bit plugins and i dont even have GPU support
on it, and churn out my daily projects ahead of schedule issues
free. Even recently 4K resolution content, stress free.

As to the original question (PLEASE correct me if I am wrong), if you have both 10 and 12 can you not just copy your timeline in 12 and then paste it into 10 as a means of ‘going back’ assuming that you have the same plug-ins/effects in both versions?

    Hi Bob,
While you cannot open a Vegas 12 project in vegas 10, you can have both versions running. Copy an entire timeline from vegas 12, and then paste the entire timeline in Vgeas 10.
    Good luck

I always leave the older version of Vegas installed. In this case, I have both 10 and 12 installed. Since I have had very few problems with 12, it has been a while since I used 10. However, I was still using 10 heavily after I installed 12 and I had no problems with it. These days I am working exclusively in 12. BTW, one of the first things I do is to turn off the GPU option. My system is fast enough without it, and I don’t want to deal with the potential for problems.

The copying and pasting of the timeline from one version to the
    other works well Bob.

I do find that when I copy and paste a timeline from 12 into 11 the Legacy titles will revert back to just SAMPLE TEXT, but aside from that I haven’t had any issues with the NewBlueFX plugins copying back over.
