Dance DVD Edit – your thoughts on workflow
Hi All,
I’m helping a woman edit together pieces of artistic dance footage, to make a small 5 minute piece for her to submit for a grant application.
It should be a pretty simple task (she’d like about 10 different sections, 5-20 seconds each).
The trick is, all files are on two standard DVDs.
I’ve searched the forum for info on .VOB, also on DVD shrink etc etc (to combine in one file)but have been a bit stuck. I copied over all the DVD files, and was able to open them in the Vegas timeline, but trying to reopen the project today, it just takes too long to load (currently at 50% after 15-20 minutes on my workstation as I write this).DVD shrink wouldn’t load (was reading on other threads here about that – something about ff show or something), and the issue is, it’s taking a long time to load all the .vob / .mpg into the timeline, for me to then to be able to get to these short clip ranges.
My system is not a beast (6 gigs of ram), so I’m looking for resource light ideas to achieve this task.
Any tips on my current situation from people who have overcome similar challenges would be greatly appreciated (maybe an app that extracts certain time code ranges from a DVD and converts it to a good intermediary codec?)
Thanks CC!
