I need to search missing files everytime I open my project
I just opened a few years old project and I specified a new location for my video files (because they are on another drive now). The problem is – everytime I save the project and open it again, I need to search all missing files again. Why?

You could try the option where you save the project and check the box to copy media. That should force the links within the project to be correct again. I know that does not answer you specific question, but it might be helpful.

No, they are not on external drive.

I think I know what’s happening here.
Click on the lightning bolt icon on the Project Media window. This removes all media from the project that isn’t on your timeline. I’ll bet you have some old media referenced there.
