Create your 16:9 comp.
Next create a 4:3 comp and drop a new black layer in. Turn on the safe areas. Draw two masks the sizes of the safe areas and apply the stroke effect and set to display on transparent. now save the file as a psd and re-import it into the 16:9 comp.

There is probably an easier way, but once this is done you have it.

-I render anything for broadcast with fields. (I only work in SD, will have to evaluate when we go HD)
-Anything for DVD I usually let Encore do the rendering and my final DVD is usually progressive
-Anything for computer display is progressive. If I have something that is for broadcast and then going to the web, I render fields, the remove them in the encoding process.

Some people do not know this, maybe you do…..but if you double click the layer that holds the lens flare, then in the source layer window that opens, under target, select lens flare…this will allow you to play with the bezier points of the motion path of the lens flare. This should enable you to achieve your results with far less keyframes.
If you already knew this, then I am sorry to have wasted your time 🙂Mark

Glad to hear you figured it out….and thanks for posting the answer….we will know for the future.

If it is an image, then maksing and animating by hand or using expressions to animate are your only way to go.

November 16, 2006 at 12:13 pm in reply to: Fixing stuff in AE and then moving it back to PremiereThe normal workflow would be to render out a movie (avi or QT) that include the background video and then import into Premiere. If you have the production studio, you can import your comp into Premiere without the need of rendering in AE by using the Dynamic Link.
Hope this helps, if I am not understanding correctly, please let me know and I will try to help.

Easiest way for this is to create two layers of text. The first will have the first letter, and the other will have the rest of the word. You may have to create your own animation, or take a preset and work it to your needs. Under the animator, in the advanced setting, you can select the animator to use the word instead of by character, thus allowing your second layer to be able to animated as a whole.

I can’t find anywhere what version of BCC you are running. You need to be on BCC 4 to be compatible with AE 7. BCC 2 definatly doesn’t work (I know this from experience)…I haven’t tried 3, but 4 works.
