So I’ve made a couple of touchups to an .avi I exported from Premiere. I blurred some wrinkles and changed a logo on a sign. I know, if I shot properly in the first place I wouldn’t have to go to all the trouble.
So now I have this AE project with the corrections and I’d like to export just the corrected parts of the movie back to the same Premiere project. I suppose I’ll need to use an alpha mat or something. They’re on their own layers and have nicely animated masks already, as their areas interact with the presenter in the video.
I am a Photoshop user and have been goin about this as one might retouch a photo but I’m in over my head with this video stuff. Is this the proper avenue to what I’m doing here?

The normal workflow would be to render out a movie (avi or QT) that include the background video and then import into Premiere. If you have the production studio, you can import your comp into Premiere without the need of rendering in AE by using the Dynamic Link.

Hope this helps, if I am not understanding correctly, please let me know and I will try to help.

Thanks, that worked beautifully. I had tried that previously but was thrown by the new audio track. Deleted that and I was all good.
Just to be sure, what is the best way to get the Premiere video into AE. I exported an .AVI, is that proper? Or can I dynamic link it in somehow?

Or more specifically, what is the most lossless way of swappint back and fourth. This is the photographer in me worrying about the video version of saving a .jpg over and over. Is it the same if video, is it a copy of a copy. Ulitmately most of the videos I work on will be reduced to rubble for the web anyway but I want to be sure my workflow keeps things looking nice and tidy if possible.
    Thanks for your help everybody.
