Scale with an ease can create the look of a camera zoom…Add motion blur for more realism. This can also be acheived by making the layer 3d and adjusting the Z-Position, or by adding a camera (after making the layer 3d) and adjusting the position of the camera.

Could you not just create the mask using the pen tool ??? Are the red dots going to reveal at the same time ??? If not, you will have to create seperate masks for each…

Try keying the various scenes, then precomp each scene..Now use opacity to dissolve between the precomps. If the background doesn’t change, then put the background in the main comp at the bottom. The alpha info created by the keylight should follow with no problems. This method also helps to keep a project clean 🙂
This is how i would attack it, but in After Effects there are many ways to do things, as I am sure you are aware.

Or use the elipse filter on a solid layer. The elipse will allow you to create a circle or elipse, and it has stoke built into the filter. A really nice looking effect.

The CC effects are part of the cycore package. They come bundled with After Effects, but must be installed seperatly. The Cycore effects have their own installer on the AE install disk. I am not in front of AE at the moment, so I cannot say if that particular plugin still exists, but I would think that it does.

I would try trashing the preferences. Do a search on the forum as this has been dealt with many times.

I will get inlcuded in a render if the audio is turned on for the precomp layer in the main comp (little speaker icon). I usually will copy all audio out of the precomps and turn the audio of for precomps, then put the audio tracks into the main comp….of course, most of the time I only use audio in AE as reference as I prefer to only render out video.

Also, you can remove the shatter plugin temporarily from your After Effects plugin directory and see if it will start….I have had issues with some plugins and this worked for me…
Best of luck,

September 29, 2008 at 3:50 pm in reply to: how do i: green screen, make a light saber and motion trackI would suggest, with all due respect, to go through the archives on this site. What you are asking for is quite a lot of info in one post.
Try searching for keylight, then light saber, then motion tracking. BTW, the motion tracking is explained well in the manual and the help file.
