There should be a weird little squiggly (that’s right I said Squiggly in a proffesional forum) icon next to the keyframe button for time remapping. click on it, now open the graph editor (master button at the top of the timeline) and you should be able to see the speed curves.

Precomp the file…there is an option to keep all changes in the current comp….Now go into the precomp and nudge the footage up or down the timeline. Should be rather quick and painless.
That is how I would go about it, but of course there are probably other ways.

In the auto orient there is also a setting that allows you to turn of the point of interest and just animate the camera using position and rotation keyframes….For the type of work that you are describing, other than using the Null, this would help. Depending on what I am trying to accomplish, I usually use a Null, but do like this option for some jobs. I also will, on occasion, parent the first Null to a second Null, so if I need to adjust the path as whole it is much easier (don’t have to park on a keyframe).

Good point Bob…just kidding.
Seriously though, I work on a lot of shows, and the first thing to get cut, always are the credits….I can’t remember the last time my name appeared in a credit roll….but you know what, I don’t really care. I know what I did, and as such I know that if it is good, I can put it on my reel.

I agree with most of the points made…especially in regards to news. When I tune into to get sports highlights or the sort, I am expecting to see my highlights…I do not need the bells and whistles that transition in and and out of the highlights.
Some shows make good use of effect to convey a mood, or move us to a new place, others scream out, “look, we got new toys, like em ???”

You can also download the free windows media encoder from Microsoft…From Avid export an uncompressed AVI file, then use the windows media encoder to create your wmv. The windows media encoder is a great tool that creates fantastic compressions…and it is free !!

Could you not split the render queues into a few projects and then render out each project…I have found that I have had issues in the past when trying to render upwards of around 25 items in one render queue.

I generally like it (we are talking about the animtaed banner I hope), but I feel like the chroma abheration (spelling) is overused….it is a nice effect, but I was starting to get dizzy watching it. Just my thoughts 🙂
