What OS are you using ???
IN XP you have you to activate the /3GB switch in the boot.ini file, then in After Effects there is a setting to prevent DLL Fragmentation….this helps AE use bigger chunks of RAM.
Here is a link that may help :

Using the create outlines command in the layer window should allow you to convert the image to editable masks. From there, you would need to animate the mask points to make up the letters.
You may find it easier to start at the word, convert the word to outlines, and the animate that back to to the logo…you could then precompose this and time-reverse the animation….sometimes it is easier to animate backwards.
As I have not seen the chinese characters, it is hard for me to say how hard this will be.
I hope this points you in the right direction.

October 6, 2008 at 2:41 pm in reply to: How can I lock animated mask on solid layer to another layer?Parent both layers to a Null object, then move the Null object.
Hope this helps

I would put sync lock on all tracks other than the Music…Insert the new edit, then simply extract the old material and everything should move back….Maybe I am not understanding what you want to do…but I always find it quicker to move things with fillers etc than dragging…..

You can also use the masks to create the word using the stroke filter. Then create a duplicate of the that layer and animate the stroke in and out so that the numbers are very close (ie in 0 out .2 then end 99.8 out 100)….Now this will create a dot that follows the masks….now simply motion track this dot and use the particle producer point as the target.

I use reversed clips in my promos. I edit sports promos, and sometimes someone looking up would convey dissapointement better if they looked down. Also adding slo-motion to certain reactions can evoke an emotion. This is not cheating, but rather bending the footage to my needs 🙂

Is your keyboard set to another language ??? My keyboard is set to French and some of my shortcuts do not work properly.

You will need to use Rotoscoing…For this you will need 3 layers (2 layers of same video and one or more layers of text) and some patience.
Basically you make a duplicate of your video layer, then you add your text layer between the two video layers. Now, using the pen tool, you will create a mask on the upper most layer to cut out what will appear in front of the text. Make sure to set a keyframe for the mask shape. Now go down the timeline and adjust the mask to fit the element that is being cut out.
As for the text disspearing in sand, you may want to look around here for tutorials….I like to use Trapcode Form for this type of stuff, but it can be done with fractal noise and displacement maps.

Could you not just add the stroke to a seperate later (maybe a duplicate), then in the Stroke filter set it to display on transparent. Now you can glow the stroke without affecting anything else.
Hope this helps

I’m not sure that I fully understand your question….
Are you trying to greenscreen, or are you trying to get the Sin City look ???.
If you are trying to key the screen, then Keylight is a good option.
I have also had good results by doing the following:
Duplicate the clip.
On top clip add the change color filter and select the color.
Set filter view to show matte.
Use top clip as rtack matte for bottom clip
Add gaussian blur to slightly blur the matte.Hope this helps,
