Thanks… for now I’ll go with your first option…. But your second option was a nice sales pitch which caught my attention, and I will certainly look into it..
thanks again,
Markyyy
P.S. pass this on to the developpers… adding sets could be nice in future updates!

I’m doing a lot of those mutliple screens events, and so far, I had two working solutions…
1 – for a 5 screen projects where there was an explosion happening througout the 5 screens, we used the Pioneer professional DVD players…with audio, and it played flawlessly… we put the audio track on the first DVD.
2- the second one was an animation running on a 3 screens projection. we ran it from a PC, in QT full screen, and the output was made through the matrox video card that has 3 outputs so each output was 1 third of the screen. Using the Photo JPEG codec…
have fun

Of course, that would have been too easy,,, The project is almost a year old, the autosave vault is long gone!

Do you have a DV deck? if so, then you go in/out Firewire, and use the analog output from the deck to go to your TV.
I think that the S-video out on the ATI, is going to show the output of your computer screen, not the output of FCP.
If you want to go analog out, you’ll probably need an additionnal card like the decklink
Even if you don’t have a DV deck, but you have a mini DV cam with analog out, you probably can still do it that way. (go in DV, go out analog and make sure in the cam’s menu you set the EE on so the signal goes through)
that’s my thinking, but I might be off track
have fun,

When U say it looks unusable, did you ckeck it on a monitor, or your computer screen…
I know that some graphics look horrible on the little FCP monitor, but once outputed, it look beautifull…
(also depends if you have your settings set to low or high quality preview, safe RT or unlimited)2- Why are u using Animation codec?, your doing some color conversion from that to DV, not to mention the size of your file… Have you tried using motion Jpeg, or photo Jpeg…
You should check out the book from Ben Wagonner – Compression for great digital videos… For sure, you’ll see that the animation codec is out of the way!
have fun!

Could it be that you’ve got in and out points set somewhere on the timeline?
Maybe it’s trying to export a blank section of the timeline

As nevo mentionned, it all comes down to the individuals and their preferences, but if you want to make an objective decision, I think FCP is the right one… As many of you, I used to be PC freak, editing on AVID, because the market wanted that…Until I accidentally fell on Apple and FCP… one word… WOW… I’ve realized that if I’m to work on a computer 10 – 15 hours a day, why don’t I go for something that’s exciting… Which is what Apple, FCP and all the Mac world has brought me since november 2004 (yes I’m a mac baby)… I was proud to tell my clients that I was using AVID… Now I’m proud to say that I’ve sold my AVID for FCP…
Long Live Apple!!!
snif snif!! that was beautifull! 🙂
