    great comments…

I’ve done 4 shoots with it, and twice I got the overheating sign. One was shooting in an indoor pool (very humid), I got it after 1 hour of shooting…(almost continously), turned it off for 5 mins, and I was good to continue…

the 2nd time, it was during our band practice, I shot on and off for about 3 hours… I got it right at the end…

Other times, I shot small clips (10 to 45 secs) on and 8 hour basis, and no sign came up..

I do use it as my main camera for now, there’s no camera at that price on the market that allows you to change lenses and give you HD quality images…

But are right, to shoot a 3 hour conference then it might not work… Also edit in H264 involves major rendering and converting to Apple Pro Res is veeeeerrrrryy slow…

I’m very happy with it, but will definitely get a “standard” camera as well…

    Thanks!

I got myself the 7D, with a merlin stabilizer, a RedRock Micro Cinema bundle, Beechtech XLR adapter, and a seinheizer wireless (mic and lav) kit.. And let me tell you.. It Rocks… Just to be able to have interchangeable lens, it’s worth the price!

you get great sound, even without a mic plugged-in.. quality is amazing…. Now what I’m trying to find is the recipe to convert H264 to ProRes, without losing to much on the color infos..

It does need a bit of getting used to especially in moving situations, (for those used to shoot in automatic mode)… but for me I’m very pleased with it..

    enjoy!

    Thanks!

What I find strange though is on my friends computer, the settings were match, and on mine (which worked), after I’ve captured everthing, I checked my settings and they were to the Matrox MXO2 settings which I had used previously to capture a Betacam Tape… so they were not even close to an HD settings..

And I think that if the settings were that important, then 1st the videos wouldn’t have been imported properly… but the fact that the audio starts and cuts at 24 seconds… One of those mistery in life 🙂

    cheers,

    Marc.

    Thanks!

    thanks for the info..

the media was actually DVCPROHD, but why does the preference only gives you the option of Apple pro res 422?

    thx.

    Thanks!

    It works!!!

but I would like to know why?

what I’ve done is go in the preference settings from the log and transfer window, clicked on the AVCHD, changed the audio to “plain stereo”

that worked… now what is bugging me is that all preferences work.. I switched from plain audio to “stereo matrix” that worked… then went back to the “p2 plugin”, log and transfered a file and it worked…

one thing I realized though is that the codec of the captured file codec says “DVCPROHD”.. Shouldn’t it be apple prores 422?

    thx..

    Marc

    Thanks!

Oh and also, I see on different posts that people are saying to do file/import/panasonic P2..

I don’t have this option on either computer..

    am I missing something?

    thx.

    Marc.

Also for you information, I have just tried with another machine,

macbook pro 2,4 ghz, 4gigs or Ram..

    I have fx factory 2.0.7 (build 857)

    same problem…

do we need a special plugin for that… if so, I would assume it would be for the video more than for the audio…

    Thanks!

I can’t tell you for sure, but I don’t think they have a demo software, because when we import the MXF and audio separately on the timeline, everything works, it’s only the log and transfer that are creating problems…

It only cuts the audio and not the video, and there are no in/out points set…

I will check the fx factory version… what is the perian?

    thx.

    Marc.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the info.. sometimes we need to shoot in places where space is an issue and being able to gain the 3-4 feet of extra space is sometimes good…

    will look into it..

    regards,

    Marc.

    Thanks!

    Thanks jason for the input..

even though they seem to be using the same type of technology, there seem to be a general acknowledgment that the 1st one is not good.. since you are using one (and probably looked at the datavideo one, what makes this one much better over the 1st one…

it looks quite impressive.. at least they have a video to show how it works..

what happens when you light the subject .. does it affect the screen lightness?

can you give me an approx price for this product?

what type of camera are u using with it?

    thanks..

    Thanks!
