I’ve already reserved my copy of Tiger, which I should get around April 29th…

Since I like to live dangerously, I plan on installing it around that time….I should be posting something (good or bad) around that time…

if u don’t here from me….maybe I’ll have lost my internet connection!!!! but were on a mac, so I’m not worry.

I won’t touch my 2 other FCP editing suites yet!

I just thought of something…I could be totally off..but I’ve experienced weired stuff like that on a PC.

What type of video card are u using… Since the graphic part of capturing can be demanding…maybe the video card is not strong enough?

I’m experienced similar problems on my G4 and I’ve noticed that I have a 16megs video card…So I’ll be changing that to a 128 or 256megs ATI card.

    good luck

Capturing to your system drive is not recommended, since the drive is already been used for other tasks…and you shouldn’t use journaling on a drive…

here’s what the help topic says about journaling…

” When you enable journaling on a hard disk, a continuous record of changes to files on the disk is maintained in the journal. ”

I bet you it is being indexed also..

so imagine having the system drive working for software purposes, writing any changes occuring, plus trying to capture..

if u have access to another drive, try using it to see if it does the same thing…

Did you try deleting the preference file…located in User/library/Preferences/Final Cut Pro User Data/Final Cut Pro 4.5 Preferences

    – Are u capturing to the system drive?

    – Is the drive you’re capturing on “journaled” or simply “mac os extended”

What preset are u using for capturing.

Are u capturing with “non controllable device” or your controlling the deck?

check these out… but try the preference file first…it tends to get corrupted over time…

After having checked that your settings/timeline is set to anamorphic, you could also check that your preview and output “show as sqr. pixels” is not checked (in the zoom % tab)

I had similar problems, and the advice I was giving was to apply a deinterlace filter in compressor (set it to blur) and it solved the issue…

Graphics are very tricky when it comes time to putting them on DVD…

If your not using compressor, but making a QT first, then use either the MJPEG codec or Photo JPEG.. You will get a bigger file but the output will be much nicer to work with…

*** but mostly, don’t forget the deinterlace filter…

    good luck!
