Adobe has this as an upgrade ($1199) to the suite from any one single application (After Effects Pro, Premiere, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator or Flash). I does not have to be a CS3 application.

I downloaded AE and Soundbooth this morning without any problems.
Right now I am downloading Premiere, no errors…
Again, I am on Windows and I use Firefox. -
I had no problems with the downloads (I am a Windows user).
As for the updates, it is always the same story: everybody is crying for updates, and when they come around everyone complains the updates are not worthy the price.If upgrade does not make sense to you, just do not upgrade.

It seems Production CS3 will ship in July (third quarter) – Premiere and AE must not be ready just yet, since beta versions are coming out in April. The other bundles – Design and Web – will ship in April.
As for the original question, I would call Adobe. They encourage you to buy the current version now and upgrade for free, but since you are talking about crossgrade…

Not compatible. Core Duo 2 is the new processor especifically for desktops.
