How can we maximise the free upgrade to CS3 for adobe
I see on their web site, you get a free upgrade to cs3 when it comes out. will we be able to cross upgrade? to mac? MY MAIN QUESTION Is would it be cheaper to by the production studio now and have a free upgrade to CS3

It looks like its the same either way. Buy AE7 Professional now for $999 and upgrade for free this summer, or wait 5 months and get CS3 for $999. What are you using now? It’s all a matter of waiting until August for CS3.

Call Adobe Customer Service, Charles. You’re just wasting time asking us, since we don’t work for Adobe and you’d have to call them anyway.

Adobe’s policies change, so let’s say one of us told you we couldn’t do the crossgrade, so you were discouraged from trying as a result. What if Adobe changed its policy, and the crossgrade was now made available?
Actually, you’re wasting your time (not ours) by asking us, since we really don’t know what we’re talking about and might steer you wrong. Call Adobe. 🙂

Sorry to be dense but, can you point me to a URL that says that shipment date? Is this the case for Production Studio CS3 as a whole or just PS CS3? I

It seems Production CS3 will ship in July (third quarter) – Premiere and AE must not be ready just yet, since beta versions are coming out in April. The other bundles – Design and Web – will ship in April.
As for the original question, I would call Adobe. They encourage you to buy the current version now and upgrade for free, but since you are talking about crossgrade…

You’re right it says it’s expected to ship “by” July 2007. I was going by the dates of their “Buy AE7 upgrade for Free Offer” which are listed as mar.27 to Aug.28. Obviously there’s no exact date set in stone. I’d call Adobe if you need more detailed info for budgeting & planning purposes.
