I’m planning to upgrade to an Intel Core 2 Quad – Q6600. Can Premiere Pro 2.0 use all cores on this processor? Can it handle DVCPRO-HD easily? Thanks and God bless.

CS3 would be the better choice.

Thanks Harm. You mean the 4 cores won’t work on Premiere Pro 2.0? God bless.

2.0 is not optimized for multi-core, CS3 is and supports up to 16 cores. However, this does not yet apply across the board, some parts are still limited in multi-core support, but that improves with every new patch or point release. 2.0 is no longer improved on.

Ok. That means until I get the new CS3, there’s no point in buying multi-cores. Thanks Harm.

    Check some benchmarks here:

Select/hide the processors you want to compare, and choose the benchmark from the menu. It’s good stuff.
