  • Why upgrade to Adobe Production Premium?

Posted by Deleted User on July 2, 2007 at 8:29 pm

    Hello,

What are the benefits to upgrading from Production studio Premium 2.0 to the Prodcution Premium CS3?

There only seem to be new gimick tools and output to Blu Ray. I can’t really see a serious upgrade to Premiere pro or Illustrator etc.

Why is the upgrade so expensive just to use the Adobe Tools on Vista with more memory?

Also Adobe’s tools are still out of reach to the amateur users as the pricing structure is way to expensive and inaccessible for people starting off.

Every single Adobe Product is out of reach to avrerage people on low incomes, it would be good if they did special offers for such people as well as students who atre not making any money but wanting to learn the tools so at a later stage can start making money once they have mastered these tools and harnassed the skills.

I started with Adobe products at ages 16 years old and I am now 24 going on 25 years old the end of this month. I have used Premiere 4.2 on a MAC with other products.

I can’t see the cs3 suite to be a huge upgrade at all, as tools such as OMF audio to work with pro audio workstations like Pro tools is not supported only Adobe Audition.

If I am working with a composer they are not going to be eiditng my sound and audio soundtrack from my edit in Audition as it is amateur.

Adobe have let out serious tools for professional movie makers which are all avaialble in the competitors Apple studio 2.0 as they have more tools for movie makers.

What are other peoples ideas on these?

I’ve been using the AE8 preview for about a month now. This is a HUGE update for Intel-Mac users. AE7 ran like crap on Intel Macs. Multiprocessor support is also huge. RAM previews and renders are super-fast. As for cost there aren’t too many professional quality products out there that you’d deem ‘affordable’. Other than Shake ($499 or so) which has been discontinued, I can’t think of anything comparable that is less than AE’s $999, or $299 upgrade if you are a current user which it sounds like you are. If you are a student they offer all of their products at a decent discount. For the features that you get at it’s price, AE is probably the best value out there.

You can probably answer your own questions by downloading and trying these packages yourself. 🙂

I doubt that considering none of the trial versions will download as they keep popping coldfusion errors. 🙂

I had no problems with the downloads (I am a Windows user).
As for the updates, it is always the same story: everybody is crying for updates, and when they come around everyone complains the updates are not worthy the price.

If upgrade does not make sense to you, just do not upgrade.

Heck I would just like to be able to download a trial version. Any suggestions? Heres the error I get:

I downloaded AE and Soundbooth this morning without any problems.
Right now I am downloading Premiere, no errors…
Again, I am on Windows and I use Firefox.
