  • Hey Duke,

This sounds like an old age problem going back to actual film production (including the first Star Wars film).

I suspect that you are exporting in progressive (full frame export), and that the text is moving too fast.

Either go Interlaced, or slow down the text movement to point where the flicker dissappear.

You could also give it ago with 50p or 60p export, if that is something that you can use?

It will be trial and error, and you may have to edit the text to make it shorter.

    Hope that this helps?

    Hey David,

I’ve just recently done that out of Davinci, which worked very well but is no good to you.

    But this info might be:

I’ve got a Mac Mini M1 that I use for FCPX – the rest is on PC.

If I can install the AVID on the Mac Mini, I’m happy to try it out.
Depends on whether my AVID licence will allow the dual install – will find out.

    Hey Pierre,

    Thank you for the updates.

I have been without an editing computer for nearly 4 month, but have purchased a new one that arrived last week.
This weekend I’ll download the RE:Vision Effects package, so I can start using it.
Happy to test it for you on the latest version of PPro.
I also have Davinci Studio, Avid MC with Symphony and Vegas, if that is of interest?

    Hey Avi,

I would suggest that you need to relink the media first, before looking at the other issues.

Is your media on an external drive, or internal?

Are you using proxy or full-resolution media (could be that the new OS have killed your proxies – not that it should, but…)

Have you doen a test where you export the Davinci timeline, and oimport that in to a new project?

Lastly, which you might already have done: Have you under preferences checked Davinci’s I/O settings?
And, maybe for the headphones, check your Bluetooth settings?

    Hope this helps?

  • Hey Avi,

I suspect that it is a hardware/OS problem.

But difficult to work out without the specs and software that you are using?

I have myself recently experienced the audio not playing inside Davinci.
So might be a bug in the latest release, although I did get my audio back.

    Hey Tyler,

Sorry, but you will need to isolate your voice, or you are just raising the noise level.

If you export the audio to a suitable file format (MP3 should work).
Adobe has a free tool here that might be of help to you:

January 29, 2025 at 1:29 am in reply to: Avid EDL to Premier

    Hey Rory,

There is no such thing as an “old EDL”.
But there are many flavours of “EDL”.

If you open up the EDL in notepad or similar, then you might be able to read what type or version it is. Which will be helpful for looking up formats supported by PPro.

The short answer should be: Yes, you should be able to import the EDL.
The bigger problem is whether you have a VTR with timecode and SDI capture to your PPro system?
And, if the new transfer was done to the same time-code and frame-rate?
If not, the original EDL is more less useless, except for you and director to look at in paper form whilst doing the re-edit.

However, fear not, as you can always use “Scene Edit Detection” to find and create edit points across your old master in the PPro timeline.

And the same for the re-scanned files.

That is one way of easily be able to re-arrange clips.

Although, was the audio “glued” on in the new film-scan, or is that on a separate media?

Hope this helps get you started.

PS: I have just did week installed AVID MC and PPro on my new system – if you are stuck, I’m happy to run a test for you.

  • Hey Tom,

Snap, after waiting for 4-months for HP to fix my broken high-end HP Fury 16 G10, within warranty when the problem started.
(YouTube video here with my fan on overdrive, and BIOS not upgrading – interestingly, I am not the only one with this problem.
    Edited on Davinci: https://youtu.be/7NvFomqastY?si=x27RJUKGAgwXmun7).

I just last week took delivery of a DELL Alienware R18 – trying to make it run every professional PC editing software going.

Sorry, just a distraction – here goes:

As you will have the file name inside Davinci.
    Copy that.
Go to your File Explorer (hold Windows Key + e).
Start a search in your top directory, or on the drive, using the copied filename.

Hopefully that will tell you if the file is there, and in what folder.
Then you can relink to that – should not take you long to do.

  • Hey Chris,

    You are very welcome.
If on Windows, the Blender App is inside the “Microsoft Store”.

I use Humble Bundle to by course bundles from the likes of:
    https://cgcookie.com/courses/blender-basics-an-introduction-to-blender-4-x

They normally appear for 20 days at a time on Humble Bundle.
Current one, although not Blender, but might teach you how to do the same in Unreal (which is also free to use in its basic form):
    https://www.humblebundle.com/software/the-complete-concept-art-training-bundle-software

Packt has just had a massive sale where I purchased multiple eBooks and courses at £ 3.99 each. These sales will return, so worth keeping an eye on:
    https://www.packtpub.com/en-us/search?q=blender

Failing all of the above, if you have a subscription to LinkedIN learning, you might find help there too.

Enjoy – and don’t forget to come back and show the final result 🙂
