Hi Mark,

Indeed, you’ll need a DeckLink card installed in order to use FrameLink. However, this mounted disk is available over the network like a normal volume which means that another machine without DeckLink installed can still access the DPX files.

Hi Mark,

It’s pretty simple. You drag and drop a Quicktime movie file onto the Framelink application and out pops a disk image containing individual frames of the movie as DPX files. This disk image is also accessible over the network as a disk volume.

Any changes you make to the DPX files will be reflected in the actual QT movie. If you delete a frame, that frame is also gone from the movie. Add a frame and it shows up in the movie.

To go from DPX to movie, double click the Framelink application and it will ask you for the type of movie you want to make. Fill up the details and you’ll find an empty disk volume as well as a corresponding Quicktime movie. Simply copy your DPX files into that disk image and you’re done. The corresponding Quicktime file will be updated.

Hi John,

Capture you clips using Apple’s Firewire easy setup. This is over firewire.

After capturing, switch to our “Blackmagic PAL/NTSC – DV” easy setup, create a new sequence and drop your captured clips on that. This easy setup will also allow you to monitor off the DeckLink cards.

You can certainly capture to DVCPRO HD on your G5 from a HD-SDI source.

This information is not correct.

Just choose the appropriate easy setup in Final Cut Pro HD. For example, “Blackmagic HDTV 1080psf 23.98 – DVCPRO HD”
