Have you been playing with your computer display font sizes? Make sure they are set to normal size (in my case, 96 DPI). I thought I was being smart and tried to compensate for my failing eyesight, but it led to the type of problems you are experiencing.

On you Windows Display Properties – Appearance tab, what is Font size set to – Normal, Large or Extra large?

As you may have already worked out, there is your problem. ProType titler was introduced in Vegas Pro 8.0, and so if you had ProType titler before, you should be downloading and running Vegas Pro 8.0c.

You say I reinstalled via the original software disc, it’s still gone. Updated the version to (D) via Sonys website, still nothing.

Can you confirm which version of Vegas you updated to? It wouldn’t have been Movie Studio Platinum 8.0d would it?

I believe SelectEventsFromCursor.js is a John Rofrano script, from March 2004. If you ask nicely, I’m sure he’ll let you know where you can get it. And yes, he has updated it from 2004, and it works just fine in 8.0c

On my computer, Z performs a track mute, and the mute button on the selected track shows it is muted. This did not appear to be the case on David’s screenshot.

As I said, just a theory.

I’m guessing…that because it appears his track mute was not selected, then maybe he had turned on Mute All Video under Options.

Just a hunch. How it happened is another matter. There doesn’t seem to be a keyboard shortcut that he could have hit by mistake. He would have to have gone into Options and made the selection. Still, stranger things have happened. (cue Twilight Zone music)
