With all this updating, I’d be sure that you have the current drivers for your Aurora card. Also check the initialization of the drves and make sure they are HFS+.

Hate to say it, but this sounds like a case of operator error. Your tapes should be consistent.[Alexander] “My editor notified me that the “Pixel Aspect” in some shots are “NTSC- CCIR 601” and other shots are “Square”.”
I don’t think this is possible. All digital video except HD is non-square.[Alexander] “We are currently using Offline RT for the edit-“
Not so sure that was a good idea in conterting to OLRT with video that was originally captured with advanced pulldown. Is this an approved workflow in the manual, or did your editor have success doing this in past projects?Me? I’d just buy more drive space and capture it all as is.

Again, not sure that this is an approved worflow. The fact that you could not doi this on capture may be telling you something.[Alexander] “I believe it is a FCP digitizing issue or Offline RT issue and not due to a camera problem.”
Your problem with inconsistencies on the original capture doesn’t sound right. I’d start with reviewing the source tapes and then work back into your current problem.Kevin Monahan

Right! CNTRL+B x2 is “the method”. OR simply raise and lower the opacity overlay if you want to do this for a single clip.

You don’t have a monitor? Then use a standard TV set. Surely, you have one of those.
If you want to see the high quality version of your video w/o monitoring properly, you’ll have to jump through a few hoops to see it on your computer desktop.
In QT:
Window>Show Movie Properties>(Click on the file in the dialog)>Choose “High Quality”.Probably the #1 confustion in FCP-land can be avoided if you monitor your video using a proper setup with a video monitor (or at least a TV) attached to your system as you edit. Many people wrongly do not do this. It’s in the manual, however.
