  • Clear Render file for a clip, or Force Re-Render possible?

Wonder if anyone has experienced this: graphics built in Motion (in this case simple Ken Burns type moves with photos) dropped in to FCP timeline as .motn files (not pre-rendered)…I render them in the timeline and then I can cut them; BUT, if I trim an edit, for instance to add a few frames, I get the ‘needs render’ bar back again, just on the added frames. If I render those, there is now a jump (position change) between what I rendered before and what I just rendered. In other words FCP didn’t render the file quite the same both times and so now I have to use Render Manager to clear the file somehow so it can re-render; but I’m wondering:

Is there a command to clear the render file just for a given clip on the timeline, and then re-render just that one?

Ive never had a problem with different renders on the same clip not matching up.

If you want FCP to toss a render file simply adjust the visibility or transparency of the video clip. You’ll get your red line back. Then put the transparency back where it was and re-render. Fast and simple, even if it isn’t the “right” way.

A-HA — OK, so to clear the render for it, I could just select the clip and hit ctrl-B twice, for instance?

    I’ll try that..

Right! CNTRL+B x2 is “the method”. OR simply raise and lower the opacity overlay if you want to do this for a single clip.
