In my SOP book, 30 minutes to way too long for a single clip. My clips are short and discrete “scene and take” clips. To each his own though. You might want to put in a feature request like: “Markers Retain Original Position”.

You know, it’s really impossible to tell unless you are working with a video monitor.
A client monitor is for clients – it’s typically a regular TV or the like.
A PRO video monitor is for YOU – so you can make good value judgements on your rendered FX.You’re flying blind w/o one.
If you don’t have one, use the best TV you have lying around. Hook it up while you work.Kevin Monahan

Why don’t you use a video monitor like the rest of us? You’ll always be able to preview the quality of your FX that way. Especially after they’ve been rendered.

To drop a 300 DPI file into FCP is going to cause you problems. You’re more subject to issues with flickering and moire. It also taxes your processors more than they need to.
If images are scanned at high res, say 300 DPI, don’t just leave them that way. Bring them into Photoshop first. They should be optimized in Photoshop with the frame size you need (usually 2x the native frame size of your sequence). The bit depth should be set at 72 DPI before saving them, and then should be placed them into the timeline.
