An iMac won’t be all that great a platform for DVCPro 50, certainly not for DVCPro HD. You’ll need faster drives to be able to handle those formats reliably. There are no FW800 ports on an iMac, so you can’t get any faster than FW400. No bueno.

Dropped frames happen when your clip is too long and/or your drives are too slow.
Capturing “Episodes”? Sounds like you are trying to capture a very long clip.
To do this at 10 bit you need really fast drives. If you don’t have a RAID array, you probably won’t be able to do this.Let us know what kind of gear ya got.

Load your footage into the Viewer first, then drag and drop into the Timeline with the Audio Patch Panels set.
You sometimes won’t get these if you previously loaded a video only clip or generator. So it’s troublesome to drag straight from the Browser. Always better to load it into the Viewer first.

Type:
Match Frame = F
Overwrite Edit = F10
Down Arrow gets you to the next cut.
Repeat this process until you’ve restored your Timeline.You can also check out the Auto-Save vault for an earlier version of your cut.
Next time, duplicate your project and save it before making major changes.
Always nice to have copies of early versions of the project for just this purpose.Kevin Monahan

It’s usually possible to alter color on capture in composite, not component using a capture card.
You’ll also need to work in another capture preset besides NTSC DV, as you can’t capture composite with that codec.
A non-firewire based codec, like Apple 8 Bit will allow you to do this.Kevin Monahan
