Under Windows, open the Effects & Presets (command 5 on Mac) Then look down for Text. Twirl it down and voila.
Set some text, double-click on an effect and it’s done.

if the templates are Quark version 3.3 or earlier than they could probably be converted as well as InDesign can.
I’m not sure how InDesignCS2 has changed with regard to versions of Quark that it imports, but InDesignCS can only take up to Quark 3.3.

If he had the file in InDesignCS on his laptop, you can just Package (which is akin to Collect in Quark). That way you get all the fonts from his system for the transfer.
Embedding the fonts happens when you create a pdf. Choose “Print” from the Export to PDF presets. It has the embed function already checked.

Not included with InDesignCS, I’m not sure about CS2. IllustratorCS has quite a few including a cd label. Do you have Illustrator CS?

To make them all outlines you’d have to have the actual fonts. So, why would you want to make them outlines? Are you going to pdf? You can embed them all or just use the Flattener Transparency and set it to the left to raster the fonts.
Maybe if I knew why you needed outlines I could think of a better solution. That would baloon the size of your file tremendously.

There’s another for the Mac that’s free and does a pretty good job. It captures the cursor as well. I think it’s called MovieGrab.
Visit download.com and enter “screen grab” for the search parameters.
Some of the freebies only capture the screen and results of clicks, not the actual cursor making a selection.

I agree with doing it all in Flash. You can scan the sig, autotrace it in Illustrator/Freehand whatever and make the necessary adjustments to the vector file then import that into Flash.
You can animate a mask in Flash now so just use a shape tween. Have a blob on a layer above the sig layer. The blob layer is the Mask, while the sig layer is Masked (in layer options)
Then, just set new keyframes and on each one revealing the sig as needed (by adjusting the blob manually). You might end up with enough close enough keyframes that some of them won’t actually be tweened.
Either way, experiment with the fps to get the smoothest look.

Well, if you want three channels, use RGB and then color shift as necessary to achieve your results.
If your channels are the colors you mention above, however, it’s going to generate some wacked colors in the final images.
Are you trying to take a channel and use it’s information for an actual image?
You can also use the various channel ops (add/sub/multiply etc) and create a new channel using the C and M in cmyk for instance and then just delete the C and M channels.
Why do you need to do this? Maybe if we knew what your end result is going to be, we could get a better answer for you.

Displacement would be a good way. Another faster way that sometimes works depending on the image quality of the golfball would be to slightly spherize the logo and use Multiply for the layer.
