    Hey Gang…

I’ve got a Mac G5 Dual 2.7 with 4.5 gig of RAM and I’m trying to run AE 6.5.1 on it, BUT I can only save my project ONCE, then when you finally render your project (that took hours to do because you have to do only a couple steps, save and restart AE), the menus are now greyed out and you can’t access the menus. You then have to use the keyboard shortcut Apple-Q to quit.

And here’s another thing that’s not working properly. Memory used by AE. Mine only shows 2 gig of memory used but I have 4.5 gig total. Doesn’t more memory mean better performance?

sorry guy, *I could be wrong* but I think that 32bit applications like afx are limited to only taking advantage of 2 gigs of ram. even on a 64 bit os. Cinema4d too :/

Yes, due to the OS. Also, there were previous posts about the graying out problems. Search about two weeks ago forward and you should find the posts.

It is possible under Tiger for applications to access more than 2 gigs of RAM, but AE can’t do this yet. Apple’s Motion 2 can access more than 2 gigs of RAM under the same OS.
