Well, there are a lot of variables. Since I like to make sure that my hardware is behaving properly I would first try these things:
1) Make sure your Decklink drivers are up to date with the OS, QT as well.
2) Through away your FCP prefs
3) Re-start the mac and hold the shift key while booting (safe mode). Once into safe mode, launch Disk Utility and repair permissions on the main drive first, and the other volumes next. Quit & restart.Hopefully that will do it.

You could also try Episode from Telestream (Flip4Mac).

Sounds like you have the preference enabled to make a new clip every time there is a time code break. Perhaps you have that on and its stopping after each camera pause. You may also have your System Settings “Limit Capture Now” set to a certain length in the Scratch Disks tab. Also check to see if you’ve constrained to a certain file size or are running out of scratch disk space. Just a few thoughts based on the general info you’ve posted.

Your graphics card is in the PCIe slot. Bad times. Try the Apple Knowledge Database for a solution or just move to FC Studio 5.1

I’m guessing that heads may be dirty on that little guy. Try a cleaning and give it another go. It could be a wonky FW cable too. Sounds like you tried the software solution to the problem. Best of luck!

All this for widgets? Damn. I installed Tiger as an Upgrade and aside from some weird Finder issues, all my Pro Apps seem normal. Knock on wood.

I doubt it was a Quicktime 9 upgrade since they just released version 7. HAHA. No, what Sony deck are you using? Has the tape been used more than once? When is the last time either the deck or the camera had a head cleaning?

Plug the new drive in via FW. When FCP yells at you about the missing drive, just click the “reset scratch disks” button. Browse the finder window and click on your new drive. Next hit “continue” and FCP will boot up with your drive set as the default scratch drive.

Maybe its not FCP this time. I used to work in a college and this happened alot. Are you using mini DV in a Sony DVCAM deck by chance? Was the footage shot with a Canon camera? I’ve had trouble playing back footage from Canon equipment in Sony decks, especially if the Canon is a bit old and tired. It could be a head clog issue maybe? Does the deck see the timecode at all? I’ve also seen this with “recycled” DV media.
