thanks mitch…obviously an internal sata would be my first choice. but i also need an external option. you mentioned you would never use 2 drives. so what would you recommend for a one drive external sata? thanks again mitch.

mus, i purchased from expercom and they are definitely legit. nice thing about them is that they’re tax free(unless you live in utah) and give free shipping.

agree w/ mitch! i just purchased 3 of the 2405fpw and can’t wait to set it up! if anyone is interested, i’m setting up a deal w/ my contact for this monitor for $801 w/ free shipping(tax and environmental fee where applicable). compare this to apple’s 23″ cinema display for $1499! dell normally sells this for $1199 and at times $899 w/ codes.

if the 2405 is too large or you just don’t need that high of rez i can set up a deal for the 20.1″ 2005fpw widescreen monitor for $400 w/ free shipping(tax and environmental fee where applicable).

if interested, email me at gntlemanj@aol.com. if i don’t get back to you soon, that means i’m offline but i’ll get back to you soon. these are awesome deals for these nice monitors and hard to pass at this price!

    walter,

just want to make sure i’m doing this right:

are you saying go to the “copy” tab in toast, choose, “cd/dvd copy,” then, “read from built-in…” thank you!

let me see if i have this right…correct me if i’m wrong graeme…

the cheapest solution to monitor dvcpro hd is to get a decklink card and connect via component to my 2405(however, there may be problems such as that mentioned at hdforindies).

for an additional $695, i can purchase the hdlink and connect to dvi to my 2405 w/o the issues mentioned above.

    a few questions:

wouldn’t it be ideal to monitor hd footage via dvi instead of component?

black magic has 4 cards. your article mentions the 4:4:4 version. since dvcpro hd is 4:2:2, will that work fine? how about the lower cost cards(hd and hd plus)?

wouldn’t this benq work as a great hd monitoring option since it has 1920×1080 rez: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-8qyuRcg9s11/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=610DV3750&search=benq+37%22

thanks for your time and help graeme…

wouldn’t i be able to connect through the dell’s dvi port instead of component as in your decklink cinema display article? thanks again!

hey graeme, yes, i purchased 3 of dell’s 24″ monitors 2 for fcp and the 3rd i’m preparing for my hd preview monitor once the hvx comes out. i’ve never seen the dell in person so i’m wondering if this is too huge of a setup since i’m used to 20″ crt’s? also, is the decklink solution the cheapest route for monitoring dvcpro hd? thanks!
