I think if your just starting out in the industry its good to have some qualifications so employers can see that you have some skills, so I would definately go for it. You should read the manual and perhaps even invest in a Total Training package.

Thanks for the reply, I searched for the folder with Windows Search but I didn’t find anything. Do you know of any other places it could be?

I tend to either use the Lossless preset or the Quicktime Animation codec, as its basically lossless but in a much smaller file size.

I think I know what the problem is. You are probably option clicking the Key Frame icon in the Effects Controls Window (F3), which sets a key frame and not a expression. To add an expression you need to go to the Timeline window, highlight your layer, twirl down the effect controls, and then option click the control you want to add an expression to. I had this problem when I first got into AE.

    Cheers

I would suggest adding some shadows so it looks a bit more 3D. Try adding a bit more random wiggle on the X-axis so it looks a bit more organic.

Do you get any error messages at all or does it just quit? If you are running Quicktime 7 Pro try downgrading it to 6.5, some people have had trouble with Quicktime on PCs.

    Hey,
Something to note, no layer in After Effects solid with an effect or not, can occupy the Z-axis and make it real 3D. 3D stroke for example gives the illusion of three dimensions inside the layer, and you need to use the transform controls in the Effects Control window (F3) to make it look like it has a Z-axis depth.
