You are most likely rendering to the PAL of NTSC DV preset which makes your video interlaced on output. The ugly twitching is due to interlacing.

What is your final broadcast location? Broadcast TV? HDTV? Film? If your making it for broadcast PAL TV, it will have to be 50i anyway to broadcast it.

It’s better to film in 25 progressive if you plan on converting to 24 full frames, as shooting on 50i and de-interlacing it to 25p and then converting it to 24p will give you a whole lot more of headaches.

You can use many different colors when chroma keying, so don’t close your options just to blue and green! I used to hang up a piece of green fabric in my backyard on a clothes line, which I found to be suprisingly good. If you plan to do it indoors, which I recommend because of the variables of filming outdoors, it’s worth it picking up some cheap $20-dollar lights from your hardware store. You have to make sure you have even lighting when filming green screen.

  • Use the filter ‘Card Dance’. Make sure you are using 1 row and 1 column in the settings for the filter. Change the back layer to the layer of your choice, and you use the transform properties in the effect window to rotate it and make it look 3D.

Video ipods use H.264/AVC MPEG-4 compression. You can use Quicktime 7 Pro to convert by
    1. Call up your video you want converted
    2. CTRL+E to bring up the export window
    3. Look in the scroll down Export box and find the Ipod preset
    4. Save it

Select your layer and then press ALT+CTRL+R to reverse it. You should see red lines on your layer if you did this correctly.

As steve said, if you are exporting with the export drop down menu try using the Render Cue (CRTL+M) instead. To export in Quicktime change the Output Module settings.

Does it just quit or is there a message error displayed? Also, do you have Quicktime 7 Pro installed? I’m not sure about Mac users but I know a lot of Windows users have had trouble with Quicktime 7.

Anvil is a video training series which gives you the project files to work along with, kind of like Total Training.

I’m a big fan of Brian’s work at Total Training. I bought the AE 6.0 PRO set and it’s helped me a lot as I started from no previous knowledge of AE or it’s UI. If you already know how to use AE, Anvil might be a better idea as it has a lot of real world examples eg. how to make promos etc.
