Anybody got any adive or opinions on becoming An Adobe Certified expert ? Best ways to study for it ? Does it pay off ?
What sort of time scale can a reasonably well versed user of AE expect to have to dedicate ?

    Happy new year everyone

Read the manual and the materials on the ACE site. There are no supplemental study guides, unless they’re new and mentioned on the site.

Regarding its value, you’d have the increased knowledge of course, but in my opinion, the title is only worthwhile if you expect to teach AE.

I think I spent a couple of hours a day for a week studying for 5.5.

I think getting the certificaiton can pay off, especially if you are young. I got one last year and tried to get an internship as a motion graphics artist, but many companies assumed I was too young/inexperienced because I was 17 at the time. When I told them I had passsed the ACE exam they began to take me more seriously. Just my .02, and don’t go by what I say too much because I know next to nothing about how this industry works.

I think if your just starting out in the industry its good to have some qualifications so employers can see that you have some skills, so I would definately go for it. You should read the manual and perhaps even invest in a Total Training package.

It depends on what kind of job you want. If you want to create motion graphics, a good reel trumps an ACE any day.

    In my opinion. 🙂

Speaking of reels …any advice on what to do there..\
I have sent i few dvds to local companies with a great response.

Is there any other approach that gets one noticed ???
