Thanks for getting back so quick, Bill. I did trash the prefs several times and the settings in the Kona card seem ok, but maybe I should trash those prefs as well. It’s worth a try.

  • Do you get audio from the capture window? If so, is the Video box checked in the Clip Settings tab? Is this an HDV project? Is your project set for HDV or SD? Just thoughts that run through my head.

    Good luck.

  • In my FCP 5.1.4 the TCG starts at whatever clip I put it on. So, if you put in a seperate clip in front of the one you need the counter on you should be fine.

OK, matt. I don’t remember that filter in my line up. Which one would you suggest?

By the way the clip is 10 bit uncompressed.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the above? I’m looking for someone who can supply a pre-configured FCP system in Las Vegas – preferably for sale, but would consider rental. I would need Kona LH, full SD setup really – probably running off internal SATA array, or external eSATA.”

Hey, Ben. I’m a tech with Creative Media Partners in Los Angeles. We are a reseller and do Avid and FCP systems. We just did an installation in Las Vegas and would love to talk to you about your needs. You can call any of our Sales people with your needs( 818-842-5700) or I can talk to them for you and act as a go between at the start.

the only way to edit media is to have the media. No media, no edit. So, keep the HD handy. If the clips are small put them on a smaller F/W drive. they make really small 80 gig drives.(4inches by six inches)

OK, so I’m doing it right this time. I imported XDCAM HD, DV Pal and DV NTSC. It all looked good exept for the aspect ratio. I can change the aspect ratio of the clips to match the sequence but you know what that looks like. There’s a lot to consider when setting up a workflow and knowing what the final output needs to be.

    Thanks for all the imput.

I used compressor to change the H264 to ProRes422 then dropped it into the timeline. If I changed the sequence to match the clip the video was perfect but the audio needed rendering. If I left the sequence the way it was the video was orange and the audio was still red. I know I’m working backwards here but that’s what is fun about experimenting. I’m going to hook up an XDCAM deck and see what that import looks like along with some DV footage I will ingest.

Point well taken Wayne. Can you tell me what book will tell me what is an editing codec and what isn’t?
