The number four slot was unavailable to me because of the screws on the chassi were bad. I ended up getting a new machine and an LHe card.

If the files are .m2ts then FCP may not recognize them. If so you should be able to import the files instead of using log and transfer. Take a look at this html page to see if it may help you.

November 29, 2010 at 1:50 am in reply to: 23.98 to 59.94 HDCAM with Kona Pulldown and Dolby e ?Are you delivering an NTSC project. If so is your system set up to deliver PAL? If so you need to change the settings for NTSC and then try the conversion. If you’re not then I don’t know the answer but when I worked on FCP systems I used to talk to AJA all the time and a call to them is always free. Except for the toll charges of course, they are in Grass Valley, Ca. USA.

FCP absolutely hates when you try to export to the internal OS drive and a lot of times it will crash or stop. I think it’s because of the amount of space the renders need for video and audio as it is trying to write the exported video. If there is another drive you can use, use it.

It’s done in FCP. In the Effects window move the 3WCC (three way color correction)filter over the clip. You will probably need to render it out. Then double click the clip and it will open the filter tab in the Viewer window. You can do your keys there.

Forgive me if you have already done this, but have you trashed your prefs and reset them?

November 23, 2010 at 2:21 am in reply to: FCP Output to Compressor Audio Feedback & NoiseHave you exported it using QT compression? If so does it do the same thing in the same place? If so, I would take out that footage and try a new round. If no noise, it was the footage. If there is noise, try a different audio signal. Instead of 48 khz use 96 khz or 44 khz with 24 bit depth.

Try to open a new project, copy your sequence into it and export. if it doesn’t work then start a new project with a new sequence, put in any video from a different source and try it. If that works it might be the footage. If all of them crash FCP then it must be the system- not enough memory, etc. Do a complete render before you export as well. Hit Option-R. that should do it. Good luck with it.

H-264 is usually used with MPeg4 not MPeg2. I’ve done several outputs using MPeg4 with H-264 and it looked great. Of course that depends on how good the footage was on import. I use FCP to output the footage so you don’t need to use compressor.
