Or you could just defrag everything…

    That works for me…

  • Make sure you go from (I think – I’m not in front of a system…) right to left… or left to right… it is movement specific, anyway. An make sure you click inside the timeline window, but not on the timeline.

    Hope that helps…

You can’t get a cheap or half version of Media Composer. You could probably get a good price on XPress Pro, but it’s no longer made by Avid. It’s basically Media Composer lite. Try ebay, and search for XPress Pro. I think 4.5 was the last version.

These are qualified laptops. Doesn’t mean something else won’t work, but you’ll have trouble free editing with these systems.

On a PC, F1 will always be reserved for help. You can’t change that. Otherwise, you should disable any macros in the control panel under ‘keyboard’.

Check your keyboard settings in the Avid, and map whatever settings you need.

On the higher end Beta SP decks (PVW2800, BVW70/75), you’ll have a mix switch, but I believe you only get a copy of 1 and 2. I’m not familiar with digi-beta / J-decks…

Do you have some sort of encoding software (Sorenson, Quicktime Pro, etc.)? What DVD authoring software do you have?

You need to convert the Quicktime to an MPEG2 file format.

Did you preview the file you created the DVD with – meaning did you check the file you exported out of the Avid?

Export again, but this time, click on ‘options’. Make sure the two check boxes are UNchecked. They are something like ‘use activated tracks’ and ‘use in / out marks’ (I’m not in front of an Avid…)

The way you’ve described your problem, it sounds like one or both of these boxes have been checked, and you didn’t have all your tracks selected…
