Try highlighting the clip, go to ‘clip’ and then ‘modify’. I’m pretty sure you can do a batch modify, but don’t quote me on that…

Can you play the Quicktime? I seem to rmember that as a corrupt media file. Are you working on a Meridian system, by chance?

Sounds like you have a window or bin sitting on your playback window. Make sure you move all the windows off the monitors. If you’ve reloaded your software, I’d bet you’ve got your timeline resized, and it’s on one or both of your monitors.

Try adding video / audio tracks, then paste your footage onto those tracks. Just highlight the tracks you want to paste into.

Just switch your avid monitors to 16:9 (I forget where it is in the Meridian system – I think it’s in one of the settings). BetaSP is a 4:3 format. Your footage is still 16:9, you just need to ‘stretch’ it. See what I mean by turning your client monitor to widescreen – it will look right…

I’m not understanding why you are creating a fake title to activate the k: drive??? Try this: Go to Tools>Console. You’ll get a scary looking window. Type this in EXACTLY:
alldrives
No period, no capital letters. Hit return. You are telling MC to look at ALL drives as media drives. This will stay active until you type alldrives again in the console. Close the window.
See if that works….

I’m not sure XPress ever supported AVCHD. You may have to upgrade to Media Composer…

The best way I’ve found to work with P2 is to leave the Firestore connected as a drive, turn on MC and let it find it as a media drive. Highlight the bin (or create a new one) you want your media to go into. Go to ‘File>Import>P2>Clips to Bin’ (my syntax may be off – I’m not in front of an Avid right now…). You’ll get a dialog box to navigate to your Firestore. Click on the folder above the ‘contents’ folder. Click OK, and you’ll get all your clips in the bin. You can actually edit with these (providing you can keep the firestore connected)and create a master. Or, you can either consolidate the clips, or go to ‘file>Import>P2>clips to bin (again, the syntax thing…). Either way, you’lll be able to get them to your local media drive.
