Change your audio sample rate (settings>audio project) to 44.1 to match the CD. Then import as normal. It’s not the video, it’s the audio. I had the same problem – I edited a music video with an unmastered CD cut at 44.1, then got the master CD (sampled at 48k) and experienced the same thing. Changing the sample rate in the Avid (it defaults to 48k) everything was golden…

I’ve not used MetaSync either, but are you sure it’s installed? Its a seperate program, and it’s not installed automatically…

Pressing the A an S key will jump to previous or next cut, and put you in trim mode. I’m not totally sure this still works, but modifying the key with Alt/Ctrl should get you there without the trim mode

First, you need to make sure you have all your tapes and sources (music CD’s, external graphics, etc).
Copy (ctrl D) your sequence. Make a new bin (I call mine decomposed) and drag the copy of your sequence into the new bin. Right click and select ‘decompose’. In the dialog box, deselect ‘offline media only’. If you have any grouped clips in your sequence, decide if you want to redigitize all clips in a group or not. I generally do not, but if you are working with a flakey client, you might want to have the option. Hit OK. You’ll get a message saying something to the effect all your clips will be relinked to the new sequence – say (or click, or both at the same time) OK. You’ll get new clips in your bin. Open your digitize tool and make sure your resolution is set to what you want (it defaults to the last rez you used, so this is one of the ‘gotcha’s). Select clip>batch capture. Get your assistant editor to feed the machine tapes while you get a double whipped latte and schmooze with the next client. If you have any titles, you can select ‘recreate title media’ (I’m not sure where it is – in the clip menu? I’m at home…)

With MC software OFF, plug your drive into the computer, and turn it on. Navigate to (I believe – I’m doing this from memory) Utilities – HDD – Enable. Once your computer recognizes the drive, start Media Composer. It helps to know what frame rate / format the footage was shot in. Create a project based on the footage. If you shot it as MXF or OMFI, make sure to change that in the Media Creation setting. Select or create a project, then open the media tool. Select the Firestore drive in the left side of the window, and then ‘current project’. You’ll get a list (hopefully) of the media contained in the drive. You can then use the media, or consolidate it to a drive.

Do you have your source / record monitors set to 16:9 (right click on the monitor and select 16:9)? The title tool should open in whatever format the S/R monitors are set to…

Marking the entire clip with an in/out will do that. Try getting rid of any in/out marks, and you should be golden…
