I see a JVC HD-100 (no ‘U’ designation) in the ” TARGET=_https://avidtechnology.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/avidtechnology.cfg/php/enduser/fattach_get.php?p_sid=-C81-D9j&p_li=&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_tbl=9&p_id=72232&p_created=1215622958&p_olh=0>device list . Have you ever captured from this device before? Have you tried turning on the camera before your system? If you have a Mojo, don’t use the same FW port the Mojo is using.

All that David said, plus I always use interpolated motion. I’ve found its the smoothest type of motion effect…

You are talking about sharing the same files to edit a project, right?

No, unless you go with EditShare. The problem isn’t the hardware, it’s the software that keeps everything from bogging down, trying to update constantly.

Unplug your Avid! I went through this about a year ago. Our network ‘gurus’ wanted to install something called standard desktop – everyone had the exact same configuration (I guess it makes sense when you have at least 8000 PC’s on a network). It played absolute havoc with my systems. I unplugged and never looked back. Now my production machines are networked together, seperate from the main network. The only pain is getting products from the production side to the network, but we have a bunch of 80gb shuttle drives, and everyone has a 2gb thumb drive.

Reinstall a clean copy of the proper OS. You don’t say what version of MC you are running, so check the readme in Avid and install the EXACT version OS it specifies. Then check the readme for the EXACT version of of Quicktime, and install that. Then reinstall Avid. As long as you did’nt mess with hardware configurations you should be golden.

So the camera doesn’t create a file structure internally?

I’ll preface this by saying I have little experience with P2. Most of what knowledge I have comes from using a Firestore as a DDR.

You should be able to load the clips into your firewire drive. Start media composer, select a project and start the media tool. Select your firewire drive in the media tool, and select current project. Hit OK, and your media will show up in the media tool. You can then consolidate, transcode, or use the footage as is from your firewire drive.

    John –

Are you creating a solid first, then applying the text effect (effects>text>basic text) to the solid layer?
