AVCHD to P2 DVCPRO HD
Posted by Rob Roams on July 15, 2008 at 4:10 pmHi,
I have a Panasonic AVCHD camera and I downloaded the Main Concept program to transcode AVCHD to P2 DVCPRO HD. I am working with Media Composer Adrenaline 2.8.3. The instructions tell me to copy the new files into the Avid MediaFiles folder on my C: drive. Is there a way to put the new P2 DVCPRO HD files onto my firewire drive. There is not enough space on my C: drive.Thank you,

July 16, 2008 at 12:02 pmI’ll preface this by saying I have little experience with P2. Most of what knowledge I have comes from using a Firestore as a DDR.
You should be able to load the clips into your firewire drive. Start media composer, select a project and start the media tool. Select your firewire drive in the media tool, and select current project. Hit OK, and your media will show up in the media tool. You can then consolidate, transcode, or use the footage as is from your firewire drive.

July 17, 2008 at 1:00 amI believe these new P2 DVCPro HD like files need to be placed in
Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1 folder or they will not show up in media tool. I created a new set of folders – Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1 on my firewire drive, and they showed up in media tool. When I place them in any other folder they do not show in media tool.Thank you,
Rob

July 17, 2008 at 11:51 amSo the camera doesn’t create a file structure internally?

August 25, 2008 at 11:59 pmHi guys,
i’ve got a big problem and i really need some help.
Over the last weekend i shot some footage on the Games COnvention in Leipzig, with a Panasonic avchd cam.
After my SD card was full, i transfered the files to an external drive, and formated the sd card. The problem is, that avchd to dvcpro hd won’t recognise the files from the external HDD as Panasonic files, allthough they are! I evern tried copying them back to the card, but still nothing. The programm will only recognise the clips that were allready on the card (The ones i shot after i formated the card).Any ideas?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
P.S.: please excuse my english 😉

September 11, 2008 at 2:47 pmCan anyone using the Panasonic AVCHD to DVCProHD transcoder software give me ballpark transcode processing times please? I realize the times will vary from user to user depending on camera and hardware specs, but I just want to get a sense of where the range lies. So, for example, how long does it take your setup to transcode 10 minutes of AVCHD footage?
Thanks,
Dave
