    Hi everybody.
I have a problem using avid projects over a network.
What I need to do is to use the same .avp project over a network, that is to be able to edit the same one over two different computers LAN connected.

I tried to save Bins and Projects in a network shared folder, but when I open the project on the computer where I didn’t edit it, it will open the bin with all media offline clips.

So I tried to export the project as AAF with embedded consolidated audio and video, but it will take some long time and it’s not the same thing.

Is there any way to share a projects over a network without using an Unity or Interplay stuff?
    Where do I go wrong?

    Thank you.

    You need Unity.
Although EditShare has some form of project sharing as well.

You are talking about sharing the same files to edit a project, right?

No, unless you go with EditShare. The problem isn’t the hardware, it’s the software that keeps everything from bogging down, trying to update constantly.

You can share projects and bins across a network. But the media is a different issue. It has to be present locally on the machine you’re using.

The easiest way would be to have each project have it’s own FW800 drive. Put all media for that project on that drive, label it. When you want to work on that project just take that drive to any edit suite, plug it in, and open project from network. You could also store the projects on the drive along with the media. Although I’d be more comfortable with it on the network.
