With MC software OFF, plug your drive into the computer, and turn it on. Navigate to (I believe – I’m doing this from memory) Utilities – HDD – Enable. Once your computer recognizes the drive, start Media Composer. It helps to know what frame rate / format the footage was shot in. Create a project based on the footage. If you shot it as MXF or OMFI, make sure to change that in the Media Creation setting. Select or create a project, then open the media tool. Select the Firestore drive in the left side of the window, and then ‘current project’. You’ll get a list (hopefully) of the media contained in the drive. You can then use the media, or consolidate it to a drive.

Actually, I tried it this way and NO files showed up at all.

I also read to drag and drop them to the MXF folder on your system, deleting the PMR and MDB files in the folder. Once you start Composer, initiate Media Tools, select “master clips” only and designate the drive with the MXF folder on it.

Once it locates the new files, drag and drop them into the project bin.

I did all this and ended up with only the final five minutes of a fiftyfive minute video…

    Any other suggestions???? H E L P !!!
