I don’t know much about adrenalin – a shop next door has one, but I’ve never gotten into the nuts and bolts of one. Turning off the power should help.
Also make sure you have the correct version of Quicktime.

If I understand your post, you’ve got footage thats already linked to a sequence, on an external, and you need to get that footage onto a media drive?
If you copy the files to your media drive, delete the media databases (.msm and .mdb, I believe), then disconnect the external, Avid will rebuild the database for you media drive and you’re golden.

According to the Avid web site, MCA 3.0 is qualified under XP SP 2, not SP3 (clicky).
You might try rolling back to XP service pack 2.

The biggest drawback I’ve found with a laptop is the keyboard. Not having a number pad is very annoying, and slows me down. The lack of screen real estate is a drag too – but can usually be overcome.

It’s not in the command pallette – it’s in the menu bar. It’s under ‘clip’, if I remember correctly. You can either put a shortcut on your keyboard or use it directly from the menu. You may need to have your clips selected. I don’t use relink at all, so you may need to read the manual to get the basics down.

In the settings>keyboard settings, you’ll see two radio buttons – one is ‘map to keyboard’ and ‘map to menu’ (I think – I’m not at an Avid right now). Click the ‘map to menu’, click the key where you want to map the shortcut, the go to the menu item you want to map, then click.

As long as its an exact copy of the drive, you shouldn’t have to releink anything. I’d delete the 2 media database files (.msm and .mdb, I believe) and Avid should rebuild and relocate all the files.

Make sure you have your 2d video track enabled, and your first track disabled (the active track is usually pink, and the disabled track is usually grey).

What version of XPress and what version of OS? Do you have sufficient RAM (at least 2gb)? What is the resolution of the footage you are trying to play back?
