Well, if Avid tech support told you the correct OS, I’d go with that. And after you roll back, turn off your automatic updates. You’ll save yourself a lot of problems….
Go into each of your media drives, and drill down to the OMFI folder with all the media. Sort by date, and you should find two media database files ( .mdb & .pmr). Throw those away. When you start up Avid (with the correct OS, of course), it will index those drives. Open up the project, and you should be golden.

Depending on how you’ve set up your system, it would have created an OMFI / MXF file. If you want to be safe, I’d include the original TIFF sequence when you send the media off.

It appears Michael P was referring to an export issue. You are having trouble with import, right? And you are on XP, correct?
From the error, I would bet you have some funky audio sample rate issues. In the settings, double click ‘audio project’. Make sure you have the ‘convert audio’ button checked (it’s something like that – I’m not in front of an Avid right now).
From a different post, I see you posted some specs of your footage. Can you tell me what the sample rate is (should be a number like 32k, 44.1k, 48k, etc)?

I’m not totally sure that’s a true statement. The 2GB file limit (at least as I understand it) is an OS issue related to FAT32 drives and export. If your system is NTFS (and it should be if it is a certified system) there shouldn’t be a problem – it’ll just take a long time. This might be a setting issue, but I’m not in front of my Avid to check.
If you want to try Sorenson, find out the data rate of your .avi and match those settings in Squeeze.
As far as projects, just drag the project from where it is now to the shared folder (open my computer>Shared>Avid Projects).

Assuming you have a Meridian box, I’d just hook up a DVD player to Avid and digitize to a PAL project. You could use freeware like StreamClip, but going analog to Avid seems like the least problematic.

Sounds like a field issue – you’re exporting a file with no fields (progressive?) into Avid. Is your Avid project prgressive?
