I have been exporting some animation and composites from Shake and imported into Avid. When they are in the Avid they dont seem to play back right they get a kinda strobing effect.
I have been exporting Quicktime animation files. The quicktime file does not have this stutter when being played back either it is only after it has been imported. We have also tried every import option… This has been an issue in the past apparently when importing targa sequence.

The file we are trying to import is:
QT animation colors million +(although there is no alpha)
    No fields
    720*576
    25fps

Sounds like a field issue – you’re exporting a file with no fields (progressive?) into Avid. Is your Avid project prgressive?

    Use upper field first.
no need for + unless ya need an alpha.
You are getting strobyness due to frame renders.

I turned on interlacing for the Shake output and works nice now thanks.
Shake adds the alpha chanel if you have + selected or not…o idea why but it does.
Thanks for getting me on track. I wonder where I would be with out these forums sometimes…oh right spending time with my wife after a long day of cleaning gutters.
