This is when you stop the shot and reshoot the scene. Hence the term “Quiet on set!”. If you have music blasting over dialog you are fighting an uphill battle not worth fighting. Better to ADR it or use dialog from another take and match it as best as possible to the timing of when the actors said it in the original. Use the waveform to sync the audio files and unenable the chunk with music to ‘turn it off’. CLick the little triangle on the top right of the timeline to select show audio timeline units to work in the Khz range instead of fps you’ll get an accurate sync this way. (change it back when done!)

FCP does do EDL.
1. Export an EDL from FCP project
2. Import EDL into a DV NTSC PPro project
3. Recapture the footage.
4. Try to link it to the original footage, but that will probably not be accurate. (for many reasons).
5. Recapture with extra long handles to keep the ability to reedit.

NOTE:
FCP and PPro will only talk clearly with EDL, but that is a defined list of cuts not the original captured footage. Which is why you need to recapture.

Are you certain you are using the High Quality setting in the Monitor and set it to 100% or accurate ideas of edges showing. Don’t select the layer either. It’s probably just showing as part of the non pixel for pixel (not 100%, but fit or another size).

I’d do one of two things:
1. If the sequence needs to be shortened I’d nest the seq and then alter the speed of the whole thing.
2a. Go into the Edit> Preferences> Still Length to the actuall frame count you want based on your project’s fps. Use a calc.
2b. Import the still agian, they will all come in at the adjusted length. Select them in the order you want them to cut together and then hit the overlay button (.) to place them into another seq.

For DL to work you need to have the production premium package. Not just PPro and AE alone. DL is actually installed as a seperate engine which only comes with ProdPremium. If you have it you can go to (PPro) File> Dynamic Link> Import or New. It will look for an AE file and ask which comp you want to import or open AE for you and start a new comp with your PPro settings and have the link already sitting in PPro Project panel.
Changes to the AE comp will directly update in PPro.

Convert the files you are going to use in PPro. Then PPro will see them properly when you import.

what is your video codec? You should only be working with braodcast based editing codecs in Premiere like DV. If you are trying to use a DivX or XviD your only going to run into problems. It’s an output codec not an ingest/edit codec.
