I just performed a test with a high detailed image (photo) to the setting you specified and didn’t see any degredation.

I was using the H.264 presets (which are mp4 files not QT.mov files)

Matching your settings when using QT.mov and H.264 as the codec in the QT wrapper did result with your findings.

Try to export via the H.264 Format and start with an iPhone preset. I’ve never output Adobe works via QT.mov for H.264 and never had complaints.

You can alter the mp4 extension to be mov if someone complains…

    Thanks Rob,

I was able to replicate the workflow in your screen recording.

What I can suggest to do is to add new/duplicate layers and switch off the one’s you don’t want.

Adding to the PSD file layer count doesn’t seem to disrupt the understanding of the layer itself. Merging Text layers kills the Text editing function and converts a text layer to a bitmap layer, which could be a deciding factor in the way Pr specifically understand what’s it’s linking to. Ae as it would seem has a different way of seeing the layers.

I’d also suggest that this be added to the Feature Request listing for PR to interpret PS layers like AE. The two teams are consistently open to merging aspects of each app to align experiences where possible. 🙂

Hope this gets you working again. Keeping Text Layers as such and altering the copy in it should work fine though. Pipe up if that isn’t working.

Reimport the Adjusted PSD and rebuild the Sequence is all I can say to fix the current issue.

In future, add new layers, import then individually and replace or add them to the sequence you started with. Dragging and dropping a new layer from Project Panel, over a pre-animated/effected/transitioned layer in a sequence by holding alt (option) should replace the layer and maintain the manipulations done to that layer in the sequence.

I’ve just run a test and it appears to be functioning as expected on my system – however, if the PSD link has become lost, all you need to do is reveal in project (the master clip in project panel) that has become unlinked (offline)
    – right click on the project panel clip, select “make offline” or “repleace footage”
    – (Keep files on disk when asked via make offline
    – Point to the file
    – select OK

  • Yeah. I think the linking element here is that the audio in AVCHD is compressed it needs to build the audio conform for playback.

I’d second the workflow Paul wrote up.

  • There is an odd little thing you need to setup in the Audio MIDI Setup under the Utilities.

Select Prelude on the left listing and setup the tick boxes to hear audio devices through it.

Go back to watching clips in the Ingest step. It should work.

Hmmm. I’m looking into it a little deeper. Seems to be working with test ingested materials only…. that have already built the audio conform files.

  • Are these actual music/audio effects/Voice Over files? How are they being used in FCP?

Multiclips have a hard time being XML’d over and may need to be uncollapsed to reveal the actual clips.

Which version of Premiere Pro are you using? MXF may not be supported.

Can you confirm the files are actually MXF not MFX…

if you have the latest version of Pr then the Media Browser is the way to import them. If you don’t have audio with the clips this way then you may want to confirm that the clips actually have audio.

March 2, 2013 at 12:01 pm in reply to: Create Extended Markers

    Hey Guys,

The Alt function only works while in Prelude and making the comments in a marker as it is playing, the alt key temporarily allows JKL IO keys for playback and marker IO respectively, releasing alt means each letter is a typable letter into the comment of the marker.

Have you tried the marker panel inside premiere pro to access the markers of a either an opened clip or the timeline?

I agree that having a way to default the duration of a marker in PPro or use something like alt+drag to extend the length of the marker in the timeline or the clip itself is an extremely helpful feature.

Add the feature to this space, the more they engineers hear about key features the higher the ranks it goes to being implemented. 🙂
